Who We Are

Nabugoye Crafts is an interfaith community-driven handcrafts business that unites Muslims, Jews, and Christians, providing income opportunities to widows, orphans, persons with disabilities, HIV victims, and school-going children.

Our Story

  • Rooted back in 2007 when Sylvia, a volunteer from Kenya, introduced Kippot and Challah cover making to Nabugoye hill, Mbale District.
  • In 2024, Paul Katzeff and our legal team helped us register as a licensed business with URSB, making us an official entity.

Our Vision & Mission

  • Vision: To create sustainable livelihoods through craft-making while fostering interfaith harmony.
  • Mission: Empowering artisans by providing market access and skill development opportunities.

What We Do

We are more than just a handcraft business—we are a community-driven initiative dedicated to empowering people through skill development and sustainable livelihoods. Our work extends beyond crafting beautiful handmade products; it serves as a bridge to unite Muslims, Jews, and Christians while creating income opportunities for marginalized groups, including widows, orphans, school-going children, persons with disabilities, and HIV victims.

Market Access & Sales

Initially, our products were sold through the Abayudaya community, with members helping to distribute them to Jewish customers in the USA, Canada, Israel, and Europe. However, after registering with Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) in 2024, we can now sell directly to customers worldwide.

Skill Development & Training

We offer hands-on training programs where new artisans learn how to craft high-quality products. Our workshops focus on:

  • Hand embroidery and sewing techniques
  • Basket weaving and jewelry making
  • Business and entrepreneurship skills
  • Market access and digital sales training

By equipping individuals with these skills, we open doors to self-reliance, financial stability, and long-term empowerment.

We operate in Nabugoye, Semei Kakungulu Hill, Mount Elgon Region, Mbale City, Eastern Uganda, where we have built a thriving network of artisans working together to produce high-quality, handcrafted goods.

Empowering Women & Youth – We train and employ women, widows, and school-going children, giving them skills to earn a living.
Support for HIV Victims & Persons with Disabilities – Many of our artisans are individuals living with HIV or disabilities, and through this work, they regain financial independence and dignity.
Education Support – The income earned helps parents and guardians pay school fees, ensuring children receive an education.
Interfaith Unity & Collaboration – We bring together Muslims, Jews, and Christians, fostering peace and unity through shared economic activities.
Sustainable Craftsmanship – We use eco-friendly and locally sourced materials, supporting environmental conservation and sustainability.
